# Booklet & Multi-Page Artwork

Single pages with Bleed, in reading order - never spreads.

- Supply **one PDF with one page per printed page**, in reading order: page 1 is the front cover, the last page is the back cover. We impose the spreads.
- Every page needs Bleed on **all four sides - including the inside edge**. When we impose, each page's inside Bleed is trimmed away; a page without it can show a white edge at the spine.
- Do **not** supply Printer's Spreads or Reader's Spreads. A spread PDF has to be split by hand and the page order is easily lost.
- Blank pages are still pages. Include them as empty pages so the count and order stay right.
- The page count is the total of printed sides including the cover: a 12-page booklet is 12 pages in the PDF.

### Binding margins

| Binding | Keep clear at the binding edge | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Saddle Stitched (Stapled) | 5mm at the centre fold | Staples and the fold sit here. Page counts must be a multiple of 4. |
| Perfect Bound | 10mm at the spine edge | The spine is glued and the inner few millimetres disappear into the gutter. |
| Wire or Coil | 10mm on the binding edge of every page | That strip is punched for the Wire or Coil. |

> **Note:** Thick Saddle Stitched booklets creep: the inner pages push outward at the fore-edge. Keep page numbers and anything critical 5mm or more from the outer edge and we compensate for the shift.
