# White Ink & Clear Stock

On clear material, white is a printed layer - not the absence of ink.

Printdash artwork guideline. Illustrated version: https://printdash.io/artwork-guidelines#white-ink

On clear vinyl an unprinted area is **transparent**, not white. A white background in your design does not print unless White Ink is selected, and colours printed straight onto clear look washed out from the front.

- **CMYK + White Ink**: we lay an automatic White Underbase beneath every printed colour so your colours stay solid. Areas you want to print **white only** need an extra swatch - a Spot Colour named `White`, filled 100%, set to Overprint.
- **Reverse printed**: the artwork is printed on the back of the clear film and viewed through it, for inside-window stickers. Supply the artwork the normal way round - we mirror it.
- Anything you leave unprinted stays clear. Use that deliberately for a floating look.
- Keep white-only elements bold - fine white text on clear will not read.
